Navi-Sailor 3000 is the first of the new generation
Navi-Sailor navigation systems from Transas.
This system incorporates all the functionality of the
previously type-approved ECDIS with an additional array of
innovative, state-of-the-art features. Navi-Sailor 3000 has
inherited the best from the modern MS Windows technology and
increased PC hardware capabilities. Crucial improvements have been
made to the system's user interface to allow as much flexibility and
convenience for the user as possible without sacrificing the
accuracy of navigational information. |

Electronic charts of various formats
Navi-Sailor 3000 works with the following chart formats:
- S-57 - official charts issued by national Hydrographic Offices
- ARCS - by UKHO
- NDI/BSB - by NOAA (USA) and CHS (Canada)
- Seafarer - by the Australian Hydrographic Office
- TX-97 - by Transas Marine
- DNC VPF - by NIMA
Navi-Sailor 3000 has a facility for Multi-Chart loading providing
simultaneous display of up to 6 charts of different formats.
Chart correction service
for charts supplied on CDs is provided in two ways:
- delivery of the CD every three months with updated chart
collection
-
using the website

Database on tidal currents
The database contains data on 70,000 hourly vectors. Tidal
current data are provided for 12,000 points. Tidal current
levels in each point are calculated based on 11 harmonicas.
There is a separate astronomic database on the Sun and Moon
ephemerides up to the year 2005, which is also required for
calculations.

Global database on tidal water levels
There is data for 12,000 points. Levels in each point are
calculated from eleven harmonicas. The same database on the Sun
and Moon ephemerides is used.
|
Global database on the world's seasonal surface currents
This is a unique database consisting of 480,000 monthly surface
current vectors. Transas is the only company in the world to own
such a comprehensive global database.

Navi-Sailor 3000/ Route planning function
Simple movement of the cursor
Transas Navi-Sailor is provided with a special editor module
that allows voyage route planning using the simple movement
of the cursor through the chart to point at required
waypoints. This function allows the creation of a route plan
from the point of departure to the point of arrival
including up to 999 waypoints. The Route Planning function
also checks for the presence of navigational dangers when
under way such as safe depth and isolated dangers. The Route
Plan table contains detailed information on the suggested
route(-s) including each waypoint co-ordinates, distances
and courses between waypoints, total route length, ETA and
much more. Route Plan calculations take in to account
relevant weather and tidal information.
Plan routes using tabular
method
Users can also plan their routes using the tabular method.
This method is used regardless of or in addition to the
'Route Planning on the electronic chart'. This is achieved
via the automatic input of the preplanned route data into
the Data Input Table. The planned route can be edited
graphically or through the data table, as well as using
dedicated tools also provided with Navi-Sailor.
Using network configuration
In the networked configuration, it is possible to share
route information between several interactive Navi-Sailor
systems. When this function is activated, a route collection
on a secondary workstation is compared with the route
collection of the Master workstation. Then the unique files
present on a workstation are copied to all the other
stations in the network. In the case of several routes with
the same name, the most recently modified route is selected
and copied onto other station(-s). |
Root monitoring function
In addition, Navi-Sailor incorporates a comprehensive Route
Monitoring function. This is a permanent program subsystem
running concurrently with other operation modes, and
automatically provides the navigator with the most important
voyage information including: primary and secondary ship
position, ARPA target information, vessel track, display of
the ship's contours in the chart scales comparable with the
ship's dimensions, information on dangerous objects on the
chart, and data from interfaced sensors.
It is possible to save several route passage reports for the
same route. The route loaded for the Monitoring Mode is
shown on the electronic chart in red, while the planned
route, which can be edited, is marked in blue. For visual
and audio notification to the navigator about the vessel
exceeding pre-set limitations for the calculation of the
ship's current position, it is necessary to set indicators
in the ALARM sub-menu of the Route Monitoring mode. A
function exists to allow changes in the rudder angle to
optimise preset course keeping. |
